History of Womenade

Womenade of Castle Rock began as a spin-off of a group launched in Washington, D.C., in 2001. It started when

Dr. Amy Kossoff, aware of many unmet financial needs among her patients, gathered friends for a potluck meal to pool their resources and help. Her simple yet powerful idea has since inspired Womenade groups across the country, including ours here in Castle Rock.

Hug Fund

Ten percent (10%) of the funds collected from each event are held in our HUG fund to help families in our community between events. The Hug Fund has been strengthened through memorial gifts honoring two beloved Womenade members. Sharon Jones, 1949-2012, was the Douglas County Treasurer for many years.  She was a compassionate leader who gave big hugs and encouragement to everyone she met. Mary MacDonald, 1967 – 2026, served on the Womenade Board from 2014 to 2026.  She was a spark of joy and generosity to everyone who knew her. She loved bringing “kind-hearted women” together to bless the community she loved and its people. Contact Donna Scott if you know of a need between our events.
